BROWNS – TITANS Matchup Preview

The Browns (3-9) took one step forward and two steps back with an ugly outing against the San Francisco 49ers. They will have a chance to redeem themselves against an offense in even more disarray.

Amidst brutal weather conditions, quarterback Shedeur Sanders looked average in the second start of his career. Sanders went 16-of-25 for 149 yards and one touchdown, earning a 93.6 QBR while averaging six yards per pass. He has thrown for 405 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions in three games this season.

Today’s game is an opportunity to prove the NFL world wrong on who should have gone No. 1, or at least make them reconsider, if they haven’t already. Of course, he will have to do so without two cornerstones of the offensive line as guard Wyatt Teller (calf) and offensive tackle Jack Conklin (concussion) are both out.

Cleveland has the second-worst passing game in the NFL, averaging 159.5 yards per contest. The Browns claim the second-worst offense in the league by yards gained, averaging 242.4 per game. They also tally the fourth fewest points per game, averaging 16.2.

Harold Fannin Jr. has been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise ugly offense. The rookie tight end has conjured up 51 receptions for 505 yards and three touchdowns, averaging just under 10 yards per reception.

Jerry Jeudy continues to be a conundrum. He has 35 receptions for 421 yards and one touchdown, averaging 12 yards per reception. Jeudy has seven receptions in his last three games combined.

Quinshon Judkins continues to be a bull in the backfield. The rookie running back has 196 carries, which is seventh in the league, 758 yards, which is top-15 and seven touchdowns, ranking tied for 12th in the NFL.

Cleveland’s defense remains their strength. They are second in the NFL in yards allowed, averaging 271.3 per game.

Myles Garrett (19 sacks), the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year, has been a wrecking ball down the stretch. He has a chance to break the NFL single-season sack record (22.5), needing four sacks against a lowly Tennessee offensive line. The Titans have allowed 48 sacks this season.

Rookie linebacker Carson Schwesinger has flashed a bright future. He has a team-high 106 total tackles with two interceptions and 1.5 sacks.

The Browns lead the all-time series, 37-32.

The Titans (1-11) continue a miserable campaign after drafting Cam Ward No. 1 overall in this year’s NFL Draft. Tennessee has lost seven straight as they crawl to the finish line.

Tennessee owns the worst offense in the NFL by yards gained, averaging 258 per game. They also post the fewest points per game, raking in a measly 14.2 per contest. They mustered just 188 total yards in the loss to the Jaguars.

Ward has struggled mightily in his debut campaign. He has 2,351 yards, seven touchdowns and six interceptions. The rookie adds 123 yards and one score on the ground.

Like the Browns, a tight end paces their receiving unit. Chig Okonkwo has 39 receptions for 406 yards. Receiver Elic Ayomanor has 29 receptions for 339 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 11.7 yards per reception.

Former Dallas Cowboy running back Tony Pollard has notched 150 carries for 582 yards and two touchdowns. Tennessee’s ground game is virtually nonexistent, ranking second-worst in the NFL with 76.7 rushing yards per game.

The Titans are fourth-worst in points allowed, relinquishing 27.3 points per game. The defense also allows 7.7 yards per pass, which is the fourth-most in the NFL.

Linebacker Cedric Gray has 71 solo tackles and one sack, while linebacker Cody Barton has 32 solo tackles, three interceptions and one sack.
