The Xiaomi 17 Ultra, a handset anticipated for an early 2026 launch, has reportedly received regulatory approval in China. The approval covers direct satellite connectivity and Ultra-Wideband support, following earlier rumors this week that suggested a slightly upgraded camera system for the device.
According to the regulatory listing, the device will be compatible with the Tiantong-1 and Beidou satellite networks, a feature enabling both satellite calls and messages. The filing also reveals the inclusion of Ultra-Wideband (UWB) support. This represents a new feature for the company’s devices, as UWB technology has not been integrated into previous Xiaomi flagship phones.
The approval contains a caveat related to the device’s model number. The approved model is listed as 25128PNA1C, which differs from a model number spotted in September. This discrepancy suggests two potential scenarios: the approved device may be a variant with satellite connectivity exclusive to the Chinese market, or Xiaomi plans to release two distinct versions of the handset.
