M60, M62, and M6 among six motorways all partly closed this weekend when City and United play at home

Sections of the M60, M62, and M6 are among the six Greater Manchester motorways closed this weekend (January 9-11).
National Highways, the body which runs the country’s motorways and major A-roads, has issued its weekly ‘road closure report’ for Friday (January 9) to Sunday (January 11). It has confirmed six motorways in the region are planned to close overnight.
They are the M6, M56, M60, M61, M62, and M67. Most closures begin at 9pm or 11pm and will be lifted by 5am or 6am the following morning. While that may affect some early risers, it appears football fans will have avoided the worst of the closures as Manchester City host Exeter City in FA Cup third round at 3pm on Saturday, whereas Manchester United play Brighton at Old Trafford at 4.30pm on Sunday.
However, for those who have a late-night drive planned, we have listed every section of Greater Manchester motorway to be closed this weekend.
