Colleen Hoover Opens Up About ‘It Ends with Us’ Lawsuit, Reveals Why She’s ‘Embarrassed’ to Say She Wrote It | Blake Lively, Colleen Hoover, It Ends with Us, Justin Baldoni | Celebrity News and Gossip | Entertainment, Photos and Videos

Colleen Hoover, the author of It Ends with Us, is opening up candidly for the first time about the It Ends with Us lawsuit controversy between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.

The 41-year-old director’s $400 defamation and extortion lawsuit against co-star Blake, his co-star, was ended last month after he failed to meet the deadline to amend the claims and refile. Previously, the case was dismissed by the judge.

Blake‘s lawsuit alleging sexual harassment and retaliation against Justin remains active, and will go to trial in March.

About Colleen, she actually initially issued a statement in support of Blake. However, she has largely kept her opinion about the situation private.

When asked by Elle, Colleen shared, “It feels like a circus. When there are real people involved, with real feelings and emotions. This actually truly has impacted some of the actors’ careers in huge ways. And I just find it all around sad.”

“I’m just trying to stay removed from the negativity. I have my own story I could tell … but I don’t want to bring attention to it, and I don’t want to have to put someone else down to lift myself up. So I’d rather just ignore it and let people think and say what they’re going to say,” she continued.

She then added that she’s “embarrassed” to say she wrote the book now.

“The book was inspired by [my mom’s] story, and now it gives us PTSD to think about it. I feel awful because I almost feel like she’s gone through more with the aftermath of this film, more pain than she went through with my dad, just seeing the ugliness of it,” she added.

She continued, “I can’t even recommend it anymore. I feel like [the lawsuit] has overshadowed it. I’m almost embarrassed to say I wrote it. When people ask what I do, I’m just like, ‘I’m a writer. Please don’t ask me what I wrote.’”

Find out what Blake and Justin‘s co-stars said about the controversy, including the one star who was unaware of the tensions and who revealed the “Team” they were on.
