Kevin Durant roasted Ja Morant’s father during Houston’s win at Memphis

“Your son don’t wanna be here,” Kevin Durant told Tee Morant, father of Grizzlies star Ja Morant. “We know it’s your last weekend. Enjoy your time.”
Rockets star Kevin Durant was well below his usual efficiency in Houston’s win at Memphis, but the 37-year-old did get in some elite trash talk.
Tension between Ja Morant and the Grizzlies has become evident in recent days and weeks, most notably when the two-time NBA All-Star was suspended by the team last week for detrimental conduct.
So, with Ja’s father, Tee Morant, sitting courtside, Durant got in a few barbs. Via Kristen Wong of Sports Illustrated:
In a TikTok video shared by user @courtsidedunk, Durant could be seen walking toward Tee Morant during a break in action. Mics caught Durant telling Tee, “Your son don’t wanna be here,” eliciting lots of laughter from Morant and his friends.
Spurred on by their tickled reactions, Durant continued, appearing to tell Tee, “We know it’s your last weekend. Enjoy your time.”
Durant has long been known for his elite trolling on social media, so it’s only fitting that the 15-time All-Star and future Hall of Famer can deliver it on the court, as well. As with this case, it’s usually light-hearted and meant to entertain, as opposed to being mean-spirited.
As for Morant and the Grizzlies, time will tell as to whether there is eventually a parting of ways, but the current vibes aren’t great (as Durant clearly saw).
The Rockets (5-2) have won five straight games, tied for the NBA’s longest active streak of the 2025-26 season, and Durant is their leading scorer. Memphis (3-6) has lost four in a row, which is the second-longest current skid.
And if Morant does eventually hit the trade market, the high-powered Rockets — who currently rank No. 1 in the league in offensive rating and overall net rating — are not expected to be interested.
After all, Amen Thompson is faring quite well as Houston’s new-look starter at point guard. That’s something Morant and the Grizzlies got to see first-hand on Wednesday night.
