Zoe Saldaña’s Forgotten Revenge Thriller Is Quietly Moving To a New Streamer

It seems that, after the chaos of early 2025, Zoe Saldaña has finally shaken off the shadow of controversy that surrounded her Oscar-nominated musical Emilia Pérez. When one thinks of movies that split critical and audience opinion, it’s hard to look past Emilia Pérez and its controversial Academy Awards success. However, Saldaña is no stranger to divisive movies, with her 2011 revenge thriller Colombiana proving a critical flop but a triumph with audiences.
Now, 14 years later, Colombiana — directed by Oliver Megaton of Transporter 3, Taken 2, and Taken 3 fame — has arrived on a brand new streaming site. As of November 1, 2025, Colombiana joined a slate of eye-catching titles arriving on Starz. Other titles in the list include the first five entries in the Mission: Impossible franchise, Rian Johnson’s brilliant sci-fi flick Looper, Dwayne Johnson‘s The Scorpion King, the vampire movie Van Helsing, and much more. For anyone yet to see Saldaña’s hard-hitting, gritty action thriller Colombiana, a synopsis for the movie reads:
“In 1992 Bogota, a little girl watches crime lord Don Luis and his henchman Marco murder her parents. Fifteen years later, the now-grown Cataleya, who is named for a Colombian orchid, works as a contract killer for her Chicago-based uncle. Leaving a lipstick drawing of her namesake on every victim, Cataleya carries out her assignments with efficiency and dreams of avenging her family.”
Zoe Saldaña Is About To Appear in One of the Biggest Movies of the Year
With Colombiana proving a surprising streaming success, perhaps the world is gearing up for Saldaña’s upcoming movie, set to be one of the year’s biggest box office hits. If it follows in the footsteps of the first two films, James Cameron‘s Avatar: Fire and Ash will break the billion-dollar boundary and likely end up mentioned in the upcoming Oscar race. Following Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) as he and his family come face to face with the Ash People, the film looks set to be the most ambitious in the franchise yet. Cameron previously teased the movie to Collider, saying:
“The Way of Water is beautiful and emotional and Fire and Ash has beauty in it, has underwater in it, but it’s more about taking the characters into, I don’t want to say darker, but I would say more emotionally challenging places as a family and the bet is that you progressively care about these people more and more as you go on their journey so it hits you harder and harder as the films go on.”
Colombiana is a streaming hit. Make sure to stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
