As plucky as they have been of late, it’s been a pretty dark day for Sheffield Wednesday so far.
Brandon Thomas-Asante poked home Bobby Thomas’ goalbound header from inches out after just three minutes before a five-minute delay when fans entered the field to protest against owner Dejphon Chansiri after 10 minutes.
When play resumed, Coventry looked threatening every time they came forward. Thomas-Asante fired a second, on 33 minutes, a low shot into the corner from just inside the area before Haji Wright poked home Thomas’ header from inches out, despite having been in an offside position, in the final seconds of the time added on for the earlier protest.
Owls have defended doggedly and Yan Valery and Liam Palmer have sent pot-shots over at the other end, but this looks likely to be another healthy win for Coventry who will go top in an hour or so, while Wednesday remain deep in trouble in the bottom two.
