Kaytron Allen is chasing Penn State history tonight. A closer look at his amazing career

It has been a long journey for Kaytron Allen.

The senior running back’s Penn State career is winding down. There are two games left in the Nittany Lions’ regular season.

Allen, a 1,000-yard performer in 2024, has 917 rushing yards in 2025 entering Penn State’s Big Ten matchup with Nebraska tonight at Beaver Stadium.

He is 83 yards away from a second consecutive 1,000-yard season. But 83 isn’t the number on the minds of Allen and his Penn State teammates.

It is 139.

Coming off a career-high 181-yard performance in the Lions’ win at Michigan State last Saturday, Allen needs 50 yards to pass Saquon Barkley for the No. 2 spot on Penn State’s all-time rushing list.

And Allen is 139 yards away from passing Evan Royster to become the Lions’ all-time rushing leader.

Penn State interim head coach Terry Smith, asked about Allen earlier this week, said the running back has made huge strides off the field since arriving in Penn State.

“Kaytron … as a person, he has transformed himself,” Smith said.

“As a freshman, maybe earlier in his sophomore year, Kaytron wasn’t a very friendly guy in the building. You had to really pull words out of him. He matured tremendously.

“He’s always been an extremely hard worker. He’s always been super-talented. But now you just see more personality out of him. He’s a leader. We’ve got a bunch of young running backs in the room. He leads those guys.”

Here are some of the numbers that have defined Allen’s Penn State career to date.
