Why are the Buffalo Bills wearing all-white uniforms tonight?

The average first snowflake falls in Buffalo in late October. Consider Sunday night an early storm warning.

The Bills will debut their icy “Cold Front” uniforms in a full-stadium White Out against the New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football, transforming Highmark Stadium into a blizzard.

It’s the first time Buffalo will wear its new Rivalries uniforms — an all-white design with frosted details — and the first official White Out game in franchise history. Fans are being asked to join in by dressing head to toe in white, with rally towels handed out to complete the snow-globe effect under the primetime lights.

It was 80 degrees and sunny in Orchard Park during the day, but by kickoff the Bills want Highmark to look and feel like mid-January.

What is the design of the Bills’ white jerseys?

The Cold Front uniform leans into Buffalo’s winter identity and was created over a two-year process with Nike.

  • Helmet: white base with a silver charging buffalo outlined in icy blue.
  • Shoulders: raised buffalo logo detailed with icicle patterns, giving a frozen, textured effect.
  • Jersey and pants: all white, with silver numbers trimmed in blue.
  • Accents: subtle frost-like patterns to echo snow and ice.

The full set swaps the Bills’ trademark red for a palette of white, silver, and icy blue.

Bills hosting first-ever White Out game

Sunday Night Football marks the first White Out in franchise history.

The stadium will be decked out with white branding from the goalpost padding to flags around the concourse. Fans were given Wegmans-sponsored white rally towels.

The team has even updated the stadium decor: Cold Front graphics on the video boards, white padding around the goal posts, and new flags ringing the concourse.

The Cold Front is one of three alternate looks Buffalo will wear this season:

What are NFL Rivalries uniforms?

Rivalries is a new Nike and NFL initiative, similar to the NBA’s “City Edition” or MLB’s “City Connect” uniforms.

Eight teams will debut Rivalries uniforms in 2025, all four AFC East teams plus the NFC West. Each design is rooted in local culture and history. For Buffalo, that meant leaning into winter, grit, and the idea that the cold is part of the team’s DNA.
