Strictly Come Dancing competitor Vicky Pattison has revealed that there is a nasty illness spreading amongst contestants in this year’s series.
The 37-year-old presenter told co-host Angela Scanlon that there was vicious bug doing the rounds amongst the professional dancers, which at one point struck down her partner Kai Widdrington.
Vicky said that she has also been feeling poorly, but she wasn’t certain whether it was genuine sickness, nerves about catching the bug, or simply exhaustion from her hectic schedule, reports the Mirror.
She explained: “There is some horrible bug going around that is sweeping through the Strictly pros and dancers. Kai got it, came into rehearsals yesterday and he just totally deteriorated over a space of hours. In the end I was like ‘Please go home because I’m now worried I’m going to get it’.
“Then I started feeling ill, scratchy throat, getting hot and cold, aches and pains. Sometimes I’m not sure if I’m actually ill or if I’m so scared I’m going to be ill.”
She continued: “So, I went home, stuffed myself full of ginger, turmeric, first defence, all that. Fell asleep, woke up, actually did feel ill, felt fluey, did the same again, woke up today and I feel alright, but I’m just alright not 100 percent. So it’s just the worst week for it mate….I am overwhelmed and blue.”
The revelation comes after both Vicky and Kai were forced to withdraw from spin-off show It Takes Two due to feeling under the weather.
Despite her challenges, the former Geordie Shore star has discovered some bright spots and revealed that she has unveiled her newest range with Matalan and Little Mistress.
She informed her followers: “WE ARE LIVE! ! ! ! ! Absolutely thrilled to announce that my Autumn and Winter 2025 collection with @shopmatalan and @littlemistressuk is now available to shop online! ! ! Full of perfect party pieces, flattering tailoring and cosy knits to suit every body and every shape!”
Meanwhile, this is Kai’s fourth year on the show, after he joined the beloved BBC show in 2021.
Prior to the latest series he said in a video on social media: “What a week it’s been! All the Strictly celebs have been announced, what an amazing season we’ve got lined up.
“It’s really going to be a fantastic, fantastic year. We met them all on Friday and they are all super excited and yeah it is buzzing!”.
