Timmy Cuamba vs. Bernardo Sopaj UFC Fight Night 276 preview
Cuamba (10-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC) looks to keep the momentum going after dropping his first two UFC outings. He’s since won back-to-back bouts over Roberto Romero last April and Chang Ho Lee in November.
Sopaj (12-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) also dropped his UFC debut in March 2024, but in his last outing bounced back into the win column. That fight was a unanimous decision over Ricky Turcios at UFC 311 in January 2025.
Timmy Cuamba vs. Bernardo Sopaj UFC Fight Night 276 expert pick, prediction
Kicking off the main card in proper fashion is a potential banger at bantamweight between Timmy Cuamba and Bernardo Sopaj.
Cuamba, who came onto the Contender Series with some hype behind him, looks to finally be finding his flow in his past couple of fights. And though I was admittedly doubtful about Cuamba’s drop down to bantamweight, the 27-year-old American proved that he could both make the weight and fight hard for three frames.
Sopaj also came in with a lot of hype and has subsequently been on a similar path to Cuamba in that regard. That said, Sopaj has been a lot less active and has traditionally slowed down in fights both in and out of the octagon.
I suspect that Sopaj will likely have the stronger start, but I’ll side with the fighter with more staying power to pull away down the stretch. The pick is Cuamba to edge out a competitive decision on the scorecards.
