Personal Fireworks Permitted in Many Municipalities on New Year’s Eve

Tomorrow is one of the few night’s of the year many municipalities allow residents to use fireworks.
The use of fireworks is typically permitted in several municipalities after dusk on New Year’s Eve, however those who choose to use personal pyrotechnics are urged to do so carefully.
Residents are reminded to only use fireworks if weather conditions are favourable. The sticks should only be ignited by those over the age of 18 and should be set off in an area away from people, buildings or other objects.
Spectators should distance themselves at least 20 metres away from the activity zone.
In the event of an emergency, water or a fire extinguisher should be kept nearby.
Residents should check with their municipality to see if there is a specific timeframe when fireworks are permitted. Many communities also choose to set off a public firework display to ring in the New Year.
