Abdukodir Khusanov Named Asia’s Best Young Footballer of 2025
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Central defender for the Uzbekistan national team and English club Manchester City, Abdukodir Khusanov, has been named Asia’s Best Young Footballer of 2025 by Goalpost magazine.
The past year was a milestone for the 21-year-old player.
In January, Khusanov made history as the first Uzbek footballer to debut in the English Premier League following his transfer to Manchester City.
In June, he helped the Uzbekistan national team secure qualification for the World Cup. In the current season, the defender has played nine matches for the “Citizens.”
In the Goalpost vote, Khusanov surpassed several promising Asian players, including Abbos Faizullaev (Istanbul Başakşehir, Uzbekistan), Nestory Irankunda (Watford, Australia), Marcelino Ferdinana (Oxford United, Indonesia), Lee Han Bom (Midtjylland, South Korea), Ali Jasim (Como / Al-Najma, Iraq), as well as players from Japan, Korea, and Australia.
Additionally, Khusanov ranked 86th in The Athletic’s list of the world’s top 100 footballers.
