Kaytron Allen chasing Penn State’s all-time rushing mark: How many yards does need?

Penn State’s team goal of contending for a national championship went bye-bye in early October.

Terry Smith’s Nittany Lions (3-5, 0-5) have their work cut out for them if they want to achieve a winning regular season.

Penn State needs to win out, beginning with the Lions’ Big Ten matchup with No. 2 Indiana (9-0, 6-0) today at Beaver Stadium.

On the individual goal front, however, PSU’s fans may want to follow how veteran running back Kaytron Allen performs in the Lions’ last four games against the Hoosiers, Michigan State (away), Nebraska (home) and Rutgers (away).

Allen, coming off a 76-yard rushing effort in Penn State’s 38-14 loss to Ohio State in Columbus last Saturday, sits at 3,565 rushing yards.

Allen is currently No. 3 on the Lions’ rushing list, behind Saquon Barkley (3,843) and program leader Evan Royster (3,932).

By my math, Allen needs 279 yards to pass Barkley and 368 yards to overtake Royster for No. 1.
