Cooler conditions take over statewide

ANCHORAGE, AK (Alaska’s News Source) – As a ridge of high pressure moves across the belly of Alaska, colder temperatures and some clear skies stick around before a change on Wednesday.

The Interior and Slope are feeling colder temperatures shifting in by tomorrow with highs in the 30s and even Anaktuvuk Pass in the single digits for Tuesday. Partly cloudy skies roll in before a wintry mix takes over Wednesday.

Western Alaska remains dry and clear for Tuesday before an evening visit from low pressure brings rain heading into Wednesday. This frontal boundary will bring a mix of precipitation through the region. Snow can be expected in higher elevations for Wednesday along with some gusting winds.

Southcentral continues to see the sunny skies with temperatures slightly above 50 degrees, but lows dipping into the mid 30s, bringing the region closer to frosty conditions.

Southeast joins the club for dry conditions with a break from showers, and mostly sunny skies through the region. A special weather statement has been issued for a glacial dammed lake release possibility in Taku River, so be cautious and stay informed.
