Christina Ricci’s ex denied emergency custody of their son

Christina Ricci’s ex-husband, James Heerdegen, was denied emergency custody of their minor son, Freddie.

According to court records obtained by Page Six, the former movie producer filed an emergency order to gain custody of the 11-year-old after the child texted his father claiming the “Casper” actress was drinking on their June 16 flight to Canada.

During that flight, “it is alleged that Ms. Ricci consumed alcohol,” per court documents. Freddie then texted his father and told him that his mom was drinking and the child “used certain words to describe the manner by which Ms. Ricci consumed the alcohol and then described Ms. Ricci’s behavior thereafter.”

Two days later, Freddie’s counsel spoke to him about the text; however, the pre-teen claimed he “overreacted” in sending those text messages to Heerdegen.

The child also said that his “description of Ms. Ricci’s alcohol consumption and behavior thereafter was not as he had described it to his father,” the docs stated.

Freddie told his counsel that he “had no fear in continuing to be in Ms. Ricci’s primary physical custody.”

Ricci, 46, requested that the text messages her son sent to his father be sealed. The “Addams Family” star claimed Freddie had been bullied at school and could experience that again if the documents were unsealed.

Ricci believes additional bullying “may jeopardize” her son’s mental health.

The court agreed and sealed the messages and also denied Heerdegen’s emergency custody order.

Page Six has reached out to Ricci’s attorneys for comment but did not immediately hear back.
