WWE Honors Late Employee With Post-Show Tribute

WWE has paid tribute to a beloved member of its production family following the passing of Jim Shank. Shanks was a veteran employee who spent over 26 years with the company.
Shank passed away last Friday after a long battle with colorectal cancer, just weeks after celebrating his 60th birthday.
Joining the company in November 1999, Shank rose through the ranks to become the Technical Operations Manager.
He remained in that position until his passing, serving as a critical piece of the machinery that powers WWE’s television product. In recent years, he became specifically responsible for operating the robotic and remote-controlled camera systems, directly influencing the visual style of the weekly broadcasts.
Remembering WWE Production Veteran Jim Shank: Backstage Support and Fundraising
Beyond his technical expertise, Shank was widely regarded as one of the nicest people backstage.
The company honored him with a post-show tribute to acknowledge his decades of service to the production team.
The high regard in which Shank was held became clear during his health battle. Last year, colleagues and friends launched a GoFundMe campaign to help fund a new therapy he was undergoing. The effort raised more than $200,000, demonstrating the strong support system within the company.
Notably, former WWE head Vince McMahon donated over $122,000 to the cause, joining many current and former executives who contributed.
Shank leaves behind a legacy as a cornerstone of WWE’s backstage operations. He played a major part in ensuring the complex technical aspects of premium live events ran seamlessly for more than two decades.
As WWE’s tribute made clear, while fans may not have known his name, they saw the results of his work every week — and that legacy will endure.
