In just a few weeks, contestants have made some hilarious blunders over very easy questions but now it seems the series is taking it up a notch.

TWO players began to sweat as they were faced with this very challenging question that knocked them both out.

Contestant Matt Whiteman, a biotechnologist from Nottingham, sat down in the chair after a previous player got a question wrong, losing the million-pound prize.

Matt breezed through the first question but was then confronted by the tricky politics question.

Millionaire Hot Seat contestant baffled by easy question on Jeremy Clarkson show

Jeremy Clarkson asked: “In 2019 the politician Ursula von der Leyen became president of which body?”

The player huffed: “I’m not a wizz at politics, definitely not a subject I was hoping to hear.”

He admitted he wasn’t comfortable enough to take the question on and used his one pass.

Matt was then swapped out for Tanya Biggs, a pharmacy dispenser from Liskeard.

The participant also wasn’t impressed by the rogue question as she said: “Politics is not my strong suit.”

Taking on the question, Tanya appeared quite overwhelmed and as the clock ran down she was forced to lock in A: European Parliament.

It was revealed Tanya had spectacularly failed as Jeremy told her the answer was, in fact, B: European Commission – the other option she was considering.

Jeremy then jokingly branded the show ‘heartless’ as the next contestant was rushed into the hot seat.

Millionaire Hot Seat is a tenser, faster-paced new format that sees a group of players answering questions, one by one, in a seat opposite Jeremy – against the clock, without any lifelines.

If they get the answer wrong, they lose control and play is handed to the next contestant in the queue.

The ITV show has been a mega hit with viewers leaving glowing reviews on social media.

Millionaire Hot Seat continues tonight at 7:30pm on ITV1.
