Why Did Bad Bunny Wear No. 64 at the Super Bowl?

While MAGA heads lose their minds over Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance, we are still thinking about his all-cream outfit. Benito kept it simple in a Zara set consisting of wide-leg slacks and a shoulder-padded football jersey with his surname Ocasio and the number 64 on the back. Later, he changed into a suit jacket and tie in the same color. (Lady Gaga brought the pop of color in a custom dress by Dominican designer Raul Lopez of Luar.)
The focal point of the outfit was the 64, which, according to a statement Bad Bunny sent to The Cut, was an homage to his late uncle Cutito, who was born in 1964 and left Puerto Rico to work in the U.S. mainland when he was only 17. He taught Benito “much of what he knows about the NFL” and helped create a San Francisco 49ers fan in the singer. “I always dreamed of taking my uncle to a Super Bowl, and I couldn’t. He left unexpectedly, without warning. So during my Super Bowl halftime show, I decided to have him on my shirt,” Bad Bunny said in the statement. “I dedicated my performance to him before it began. I’m sure he saw it, he was present, and he felt proud of his nephew.”
