CHICAGO (Gray News) – A Delta flight was reportedly hit by a firework while landing in Chicago on the Fourth of July.
Delta Air Lines Flight 1076 landed Saturday at Chicago’s Midway International Airport just before 8:40 p.m. Central, according to FlightAware.
Air traffic control audio obtained by CNN indicates that as the plane was landing, it was hit by a firework.
“We’re just hoping it was just a mortar that went off underneath but definitely felt a big bang,” the pilot said.
Air traffic control told him there had been multiple reports, and the city planned to notify Chicago Police.
The plane landed safely and was undergoing an evaluation, according to WMAQ.
