Taylor Swift Makes Surprise Appearance Nodding to Her Country Music Roots Just Days Before Rumored Wedding

Just days ahead of her rumored July 3 wedding to Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance virtually at Alan Jackson’s farewell concert in Nashville.

Swift—whose own roots are in country music—said in a prerecorded video that aired during the June 27 show, “I appreciate you so much for the ways that you have treated me and other artists and writers with just such support and encouragement over the years.”

“I am so excited for you and your show, and I just appreciate you so much,” she added.

“I just want to say thank you for your decades of your incredible songwriting and performances and the way that means so much to us, the fans,” Swift’s message to Jackson continued. Pointing to Jackson’s song “Drive”—which Swift covered in 2008 for an episode of CMT: Giants—she added, “In that song, you paint such a picture and let us into the details of your life. I know that was an example that was so good for me to see at a young age, an artist who’s really just letting fans into the details of his life.”

In addition to Swift’s virtual appearance, country music stars like Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, and Luke Combs came out to deliver tribute performances throughout the night.

Jackson revealed in 2021 that he was living with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease and had been for over a decade. He told People ahead of the farewell show that he wanted to “end it all where it all started for me.”

“It’s been a long road…and it’s taken me places I never imagined,” Jackson continued. “But I can’t think of a better place to put on a big show and give the fans a finale than in Nashville and include so many special friends.”

Though Swift wasn’t there in person for this Nashville show, she was in the country music capital of the world earlier in the week, where she gave a surprise performance at soon-to-be husband Kelce’s Tight Ends and Friends concert on June 23. She and country music star Lainey Wilson performed a duet of Swift’s 2008 hit “Love Story” to rapturous applause.

As for Swift’s virtual appearance at Jackson’s concert on Saturday night, Entertainment Weekly reported that the “Opalite” singer drew both cheers and boos when her face appeared onscreen.

Swift’s appearance comes soon after she released her first country song in over 10 years, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” which appeared in Toy Story 5. The Grammy winner has kept busy ahead of her wedding to Kelce—thought to be taking place at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. Page Six reported that Stevie Nicks and Tim McGraw are set to perform at the couple’s “Wedding-palooza.”

Swift’s “Tim McGraw” was one of her early hits; at Game 4 of the NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs on June 10, Swift might have dropped an Easter egg by wearing a shirt screen printed with “Stevie Knicks” on its front.

Swift previously said on The Graham Norton Show in October 2025 that she was “so excited” about wedding planning. “I know it’s going to be fun to plan, because I think the only stressful weddings are the ones where you have a small amount and people are on the bubble,” she added.
