Match Preview: Worthing FC vs Dagenham & Redbridge

The National League South league leaders welcome Dagenham to Woodside with the objective of completing a league double over their East London counterparts.
Confidence will be coursing throughout the squad, after two dramatic successes over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. Good Friday’s crucial 2-1 win over Sussex rivals Eastbourne Borough courtesy of Joe Cook’s last-minute header was followed up by another comeback victory over Dorking Wanderers.
Razzaq Coleman De-Graft netted in consecutive matches with a clever finish before Watford loanee Remiero Moulton sparked chaos in the away end with a pile driver into the top corner four minutes from time.
In spite of falling behind in each of their four league matches, the Reds have managed to collect 10 points in that period. Their destiny is in their own hands with three tough games to play.
Meanwhile, Dagenham & Redbridge are searching to bounce back after two frustrating results.
The Opposition
With three games remaining of the season, it’s virtually impossible for Dagenham & Redbridge to finish inside the play-off places.
Easter Monday’s late collapse at home to Chelmsford City saw the game end 3-3 draw, a seismic blow to their ambitions of achieving an instant elevation back into the National League.
Despite leading 3-1 against 10 men with four minutes of regulation time remaining, multiple lapses in concentration resulted in them conceding twice in the dying embers.
That concluded a Bank Holiday weekend to forget, as they also fell to a 3-0 dismantling away to Hornchurch on Good Friday.
With the recent takeover of YouTube personality KSI, the Daggers will already be planning for next season as they look to improve on what is set to be a mid-table finish.
The Gaffer
After suffering a season-ending injury, shareholder and player Andy Carroll has been tasked with seeing out the remainder of Dagenham’s season from a position of power in the dugout.
Lee Bradbury was relived of his duties last month after a season that has failed to live up to expectations following their relegation from the National League last season.
Carroll isn’t able to influence the Daggers on the pitch, so has stepped into the coaching role for the first time in his career.
The former Premier League striker is in the twilight of his career at the age of 37, with his summer move to the Daggers drawing national attention.
Prior to his Non-League transfer, Carroll was plying his trade with French giants Bordeaux in the lower divisions after his spells with West Ham, Reading and Newcastle United.
In his first game in charge, the forward guided his side to a narrow win over Torquay United at the Chigwell Construction stadium.
One to Watch
Former Tottenham Hotspur academy midfielder George Marsh has been pulling the strings for the East London outfit since emigrating to the capital last summer.
After consistent performances in the middle of the park for the Daggers, he was voted by the supporters as their Player of the Month.
Equally adept at right-back as well as various positions in midfield, the 27-year-old registered an assist in the 1-0 triumph over Torquay – his only goal contribution in 23 National League South appearances this season.
After being released for the Spurs youth set-up in 2021 despite having a positive loan spell at Leyton Orient, Marsh signed for AFC Wimbledon.
A mixed level of success resulted in the Englishman making the decision to move abroad to AEL Limassol, while also featuring in Northern Ireland for Larne, where he tasted European football in the Europa Conference League.
