KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Social media is full of World Cup fans from other countries reacting to things Americans take for granted.
Now one of those things is causing travel headaches.
The Transportation Security Administration issued a warning involving ranch dressing.
Apparently World Cup visitors are so amazed by the American favorite that they are stocking up and taking bottles home as souvenirs.
TSA issued a series of humorous statements on social media, saying things like:
- “If you’re visiting for a verry large sporting event & you happen to discover RANCH while you’re here… pls pack it in your CHECKED BAG on the way home”
- “ok please avoid chugging your ranch outside security the airlines will check it for you”
- “days since the last airport ranch incident: 0″
- “yeah soooo your carry-on wasn’t actually made for *checks notes* 4 bottles of ranch & a taser”
The problem isn’t the ranch dressing, it’s the size of the bottles. Liquid in carry-on luggage must be 3.4 oz. or smaller. Dressing bottles are normally 8 oz., 16 oz., or larger.
It can also slow security lines when TSA has to pull items out of carry-on luggage.
It’s fine to fill you checked luggage with bottles of ranch dressing, if you want to, but they must be checked before the flight.
