BEAUFORT, Carteret County — The Beaufort Fire Department welcomed some special visitors for a training experience with first responders.
Coco, a service dog, stopped by the department with her handler, Kari, and her canine trainer.
The visit gave Coco a chance to spend time around firefighters, fire trucks, and other emergency equipment.
Fire officials say visits like this help service dogs become more comfortable around first responders, emergency vehicles, and the sights and sounds they may encounter while working.
While at the station, Kari and Coco also picked up one of the department’s free Pet Finder Stickers.
The stickers are designed to alert first responders that pets may be inside a home during an emergency.
The department thanked Kari, Coco, and the trainer for stopping by.
