Tyler Huntley | Baltimore Ravens | 16% Rostership | 5% FAAB

Many expected Lamar Jackson to return to the Baltimore Ravens after missing the past two games, including a bye week, while recovering from a hamstring injury. Now, the NFL is investigating how the Ravens handled Jackson’s injury designation before Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears. If Tyler Huntley continues to be under center for Baltimore, he gets a great matchup against the Miami Dolphins in Week 9.

Running Back Waiver Wire Targets | Week 9 Fantasy Football

Ameer Abdullah | Indianapolis Colts | 5% Rostership | 2% FAAB

Going into the season, it appeared that DJ Giddens would be the running back to roster behind Jonathan Taylor. However, Ameer Abdullah has emerged as the handcuff to Taylor. Abdullah would be my priorty add at running back if I was the Taylor manager or had a spare roster spot.

Jaret Patterson | Los Angeles Chargers | 0% Rostership | 2% FAAB

With Hassan Haskins inactive on Thursday Night Football with a hamstring injury, Jaret Patterson assumed backup duties to Kimani Vidal. Los Angeles will have a ten-day break before heading to Tennessee to battle the Titans so it is possible Haskins is able to resume his role in the offense and should be a situation to monitor.

Samaje Perine (Photo by Ian Johnson/Icon Sportswire)

Samaje Perine | Cincinnati Bengals | 41% Rostership | 4% FAAB

After being mentioned last week as a waiver wire add, Samaje Perine‘s rostership went from 26 to 41%. This still needs to be above 50% as he is the handcuff to Chase Brown. I have a sneaky suspicion that after his 95-yard rushing performance and a touchdown in Week 8, Perine will finally break the 50% threshold.

Devin Singletary | New York Giants | 38% Rostership | 10% FAAB

With Cam Skattebo’s season over due to an ankle injury, it now becomes the next man up in New York. Tyrone Tracy will be the primary benefactor to receive carries, but Devin Singletary will also be heavily involved in the offense moving forward. Singletary is my priority add this week among running backs.

Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Targets | Week 9 Fantasy Football

Xavier Hutchinson (Photo by Leslie Plaza Johnson/Icon Sportswire)

Xavier Hutchinson | Houston Texans | 41% Rostership | 2% FAAB

Xavier Hutchinson stepped into a significant workload against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 8 after Nico Collins and Christian Kirk were both ruled out. Hutchinson led all Texans receivers with 69 yards while also catching a touchdown pass. The injuries to Collins and Kirk need to be monitored for future success of Hutchinson.

Tyler Johnson | New York Jets | 6% Rostership | 2% FAAB

With Garrett Wilson out of the lineup, Tyler Johnson had back-to-back weeks as the Jets WR1. Johnson had at least 60 receiving yards in both games while also finding the end zone in Week 8. The Jets have a bye in Week 9 but Johnson has made his case to see the field more in New York.

Olamide Zaccheaus | Chicago Bears | 26% Rostership | 2% FAAB

While Olamide Zaccheaus Week 8 stat line was not overly impressive, his seven targets cannot go unnoticed. Quietly, Zaccheaus is tied for second on the team in targets with DJ Moore. As long as Zaccheaus continues to play ahead of Luther Burden, he will hold value in PPR leagues.

Over 50% Rostered Waiver Wire Players | Week 8 Fantasy Football

Other players who are great waiver wire additions but have over 50% rostership include: Tank Bigsby, Kayshon Boutte, Pat Bryant, Jalen Coker, Kirk Cousins, Andy Dalton, Isaiah Davis, Ray Davis, Chimere Dike, Noah Fant, Dillon Gabriel, Gunnar Helm, Juwan Johnson, Theo Johnson, Mac Jones, Keaton Mitchell, Devin Neal, Jaylin Noel, Will Shipley, Tyler Shough, Darius Slayton, Sean Tucker and Malik Washington.

🧠 Optimized FAQ | Week 9 Waiver Wire Fantasy Football Pickups

Q1: Who is the hottest Week 9 Waiver Wire pickup for fantasy football?
A: Devin Singletary is this week’s most valuable add after Cam Skattebo’s injury opened the door for him to take on a major role in New York’s offense. He could lead the Giants backfield moving forward.

Q2: How much FAAB should I spend on Tyler Huntley if Lamar Jackson stays sidelined?
A: In SuperFlex leagues, managers can justify spending 8–12% FAAB on Tyler Huntley given his rushing upside and soft Week 9 matchup versus Miami, especially if Lamar Jackson remains out.

Q3: Which Week 9 running backs gain the most from recent NFL injuries?
A: Devin Singletary benefits from Cam Skattebo’s season-ending ankle injury, while Ameer Abdullah is now the clear backup to Jonathan Taylor in Indianapolis and worth stashing.

Q4: Are there any under-the-radar wide receivers worth adding in Week 9?
A: Yes. Xavier Hutchinson stepped up as Houston’s WR1 with Nico Collins and Christian Kirk both sidelined, and Tyler Johnson has posted back-to-back productive games for the Jets.

Q5: What’s the smartest dynasty approach to Week 9 waiver wire pickups?
A: Dynasty managers should focus on adding players like Ameer Abdullah and Samaje Perine, who hold handcuff value now and potential trade appeal later. These are classic “short-term gain, long-term leverage” moves.

Q6: Should dynasty contenders and rebuilders attack Week 9 waivers differently?
A: Absolutely. Contenders should prioritize plug-and-play options such as Singletary and Huntley, while rebuilders should stash emerging names like Xavier Hutchinson or Tyler Johnson for future upside.

Q7: Is it smarter to save FAAB for later or spend now on Week 9 waiver targets?
A: This is the week to spend, not stash. Clear opportunity shifts like Singletary’s expanded role and Huntley’s potential starts are rare midseason. Conservative managers risk missing production that wins playoff spots.
