It seems the apple really doesn’t fall far from the tree.
On Tuesday, Oliver Darcy’s Status newsletter reported that Stephen Colbert’s daughter Madeleine Carlisle resigned as an associate producer at “60 Minutes” in “recent days” — just ahead of the long-running CBS News program’s return to air next month. The newsletter notes that Carlisle was “well-regarded” in her role.
The news comes despite Carlisle’s public social media accounts listing her as currently working as an associate producer at CBS — although she may not have updated her status yet. Carlisle began working at “60 Minutes” in 2022 and has also held positions at Time and The Atlantic.
HuffPost has reached out to CBS News and Carlisle for comment but did not receive an immediate response.
Her exit comes just over two months after CBS and its parent company, Paramount, cancelled its long-running franchise “The Late Show,” which her father had hosted since 2015. The decision to end the show was announced in July 2025, days after Colbert criticized Paramount for a settlement it reached with President Donald Trump. The network claimed that the move was a “purely a financial decision.”
Carlisle is not alone in her decision to jump ship at “60 Minutes.” The network has shifted to a more MAGA-friendly tone since Trump ally and billionaire David Ellison took control of the network’s parent company and named former conservative columnist Bari Weiss editor-in-chief of CBS News in October 2025.
