Limp Bizkit Return To The Stage With A Heartfelt Tribute To The Late Sam Rivers & A New Live Bassist

Limp Bizkit returned to the stage tonight, November 29th, for the first time since the October 18th, 2025 death of their co-founding bassist Sam Rivers. His passing came as a shock to many among, compounding a bitter year for metal that has already claimed the lives of Ozzy Osbourne, Brent Hinds and more. While Rivers‘ cause of death was not officially announced, a police report shed more light on the passing of the 48-year-old musician.
Announcing his passing last month, his bandmates in Limp Bizkit, offered this statement, in which they referred to him as, “the pulse beneath every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul in the sound.” Despite the heavy loss, Limp Bizkit have opted to continue on, with tonight’s set at the Estadio Fray Nano in Mexico City, Mexico serving as their first concert since the tragic loss of Rivers.
Tonight’s set saw Kid Not (aka Richie Buxton), a songwriting partner/producer of tour opener Ecca Vandal, serve as the fill-in on bass in place of the late Rivers. Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst also guested onstage during Ecca Vandal‘s set, adding guest vocals to her 2025 single “Cruising To Self Soothe“. Prior to launching into their headlining set, Limp Bizkit paused the festivities to air a video package honoring Rivers (see below.)
Meanwhile, just ahead of taking to the stage, drummer John Otto shared the following heartbreaking tribute to Rivers on social media:
“Today is going to be tough. A first I never wanted to experience. Especially not now. You’ve been there for so many major firsts in my life. Some of my earliest memories were made with you. We grew up together. Laughed together. together. Realized our dreams together. And traveled the world together. You’ve always been there. The godfather to my girls, my best friend-my brother. There will never be another you. We’re going to honor the life you lived and the love you spread with every show we play. You’ll always be with us.
Thank you to our fans for all the messages of support and tributes to Sam. It means the world to us.
This one’s for you Sammy.”
Kid Not himself previously shared a tribute to Rivers upon the news his death last month, stating on social media, “You schooled us all in low-end theory, and did it with such a humble, beautiful heart.” Ecca Vandal also previously toured with Limp Bizkit & Rivers earlier this year.
Tonight’s show was the first stop of Limp Bizkit‘s previously announced Latin American ‘Loserville Tour‘, which originally was set to see YUNGBLUD as direct support. Citing unspecified health issues, the latter dropped off that trek several weeks ago, leading to Bullet For My Valentine taking his spot with a 20th anniversary live celebration of their gold-certified debut album “The Poison“.
311 are also part of that bill, as of course is frequent Limp Bizkit tourmate Ecca Vandal, this time with good reason it would seem. Rapper Riff Raff and ‘ghetto metal’ band Slay Squad round out that bill. Further dates for this trek across South America include:
12/02 San Jose, CRI – Parque Viva
12/05 Bogota, COL – Coloseo de Medplus
12/09 Lima, PER – Costa 21
12/13 Santiago, CHL – Estadion Monumental
12/16 Buenos Aires, ARG – Parque Estadio Nacional
12/20 Sao Paulo, BRA – Allianz Parque
