Jaromir Jagr suits up in 38th professional season, pushing back HHOF induction

NHL legend Jaromir Jagr will have his eventual induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame pushed back another year, as the Czech forward has suited up for a 38th professional season with Rytiri Kladno in his native Czechia.

Jagr, 53, made his professional hockey debut with Kladno back in 1988, where he played for two years before the Pittsburgh Penguins selected him with the fifth overall pick in the 1990 NHL ERntry Draft.

Jagr joined the Penguins immediately, and helped guide the team alongside Mario Lemieux to two Stanley Cup titles in his first two seasons.

The native of Kladno would go on to play 24 seasons in the NHL, scoring 766 goals and finishing with 1,921 points over 766 career games with the Penguins, Washington Capitals, New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, Dallas Stars, Boston Bruins, New Jersey Devils, Florida Panthers and Calgary Flames.

Jagr played his final NHL game at the age of 45 with the Flames on Dec. 31, 2017.

Still sitting at second place in the NHL’s all-time points list, the eight-time All-Star is all but assured to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame when eligible. However, per the current rules, a player must be out of professional hockey for three years until they are eligible for induction.

Jagr suited up in 39 games for Kladno a season ago, scoring five goals and finishing with 16 points.
