It comes after Spandau Ballet bassist Martin, 64, told how Shirlie’s mum Margaret once asked the couple if they had “tried the wheelbarrow” position when struggling to get pregnant.

He then demonstrated the position around the campfire – leaving his celeb pals in hysterics.

Asked how she has felt about some of the stories Martin has told in camp, Shirlie said: “I’ve been very embarrassed having to go out the next day and everyone at the gym going, ‘Oooh, Martin!’.

“But it’s all good, I’m used to it.”

During the series, ex-EastEnders actor Martin also revealed he was once considered for the role of James Bond in the hit spy franchise – but lost out to Pierce Brosnan.

Shirlie said: “He would’ve made the best James Bond ever. The most handsome one, I think.”

She added: “I’m loving it. We love the show, so it’s funny to see him on the show.”

Martin and Shirlie’s TV presenter son Roman, 32 – who came third in the 2019 series – has been posting online frequently trying to get people to vote for his dad to do grim Bushtucker Trials.

After Martin’s “wheelbarrow” comments, Roman posted an image of cartoon character Homer Simpson pouring bleach in his eyes, writing: “My dad’s talking about ‘wheelbarrowing’ with my mum…”

Speaking before she flew out to Australia, Shirlie revealed she will be throwing Martin a boozy Christmas party when they return home.

She is looking forward to having the family together again – including Roman and their daughter Harley Moon, 36, who have been competing on BBC show Celebrity Race Across the World.

Shirlie told The Sun: “It feels like my family have been doing somewhat of a TV takeover with Roman and Harley on Race Across the World, soon followed by Martin heading out to Australia.

“We are such a close family and really cherish the time we share together but we’ve been like ships in the night as of late.

“Before Martin headed off to the jungle he asked me if I could plan a huge Christmas party for his return.

“I love an excuse to host our family, friends and neighbours so I’ve been keeping myself busy in planning mode.

“Martin will no doubt be starving when he returns home so I’m going to ensure the party is well-catered.

“I’m going to go all out with decorations, music, food, cocktails and all of our favourite people at home with us to celebrate his return.”
