Saban warns Alabama about South Carolina, shares Steve Spurrier story

Did Nick Saban just coin another one of his memorable phrases?
During Saturday’s College GameDay on ESPN, he warned Alabama about its game with South Carolina.
In 2010, we had won 19 straight games in a row,” he said. “We went to South Carolina when (Steve) Spurrier was coaching there. Big favorites, and we got the lining kicked out of our ass.”
The GameDay panel left, but the former Alabama coach’s point was valid.
“With Alabama, they’ve come off the gauntlet: Four straight ranked teams,” Saban said. “But last year, they struggled coming off games like that playing teams that were unranked and lost twice. They need to prove that they can do that, and let me tell you if I were coaching in this game, I’d be very concerned if I were Alabama.
In 2010, No. 19 South Carolina defeated the top-ranked Tide 35-21. Saban was asked if Spurrier remembers the game.
“Steve Spurrier does,” Saban said. “He tells me every time I see him.”
In the game, Stephen Garcia threw for three touchdowns, while running back Marcus Lattimore scored three times. Wide receiver Alshon Jeffery caught two of Garcia’s touchdown passes.
