The third round of CONCACAF qualifying for the 2026 World Cup continues on Friday when Suriname hosts Guatemala with everything at stake. The two teams enter the matchup at opposite ends of Group A, but could end the weekend switching places altogether with the right run of results.

The Natio have yet to taste defeat in this stage of the competition and currently sit in first, one point ahead of El Salvador for the time being. Guatemala, meanwhile, has failed to get a win on the board, with its only point coming from a 1-1 draw in Panama last month.

Los Chapines have traditionally dominated this rivalry and have never lost to Suriname, winning twice and drawing in one of their three matchups to date. However, it’s more apparent than ever that the winds of change could be blowing in Suriname’s favor as it looks to extend its cushion at the Group A summit.
