HAPPENING NOW: Tornado Warnings throughout northwest Missouri, Tornado Watch issued for KC metro

A tornado warning is active for Harrison, Daviess and Grundy counties, until 9:30 p.m. CT.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – There is a low chance for isolated storms mid-late afternoon, but a line of storms is expected by this evening and tonight. That line will bring the highest likelihood of severe weather.
The National Weather Service issued a Tornado Watch for parts of northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri until 10 p.m. Monday.

Here’s the timing:
BETWEEN 4 & 7 PM: We have a low chance (20%) for a thunderstorm or two to develop. While the chances are low, the severe risk would be high IF this happens. This would be the highest tornado risk of the day. Have a plan for where you will go for shelter if you are in a tornado warning this afternoon or evening.
BETWEEN 7 PM & MIDNIGHT: This is our line of storms, which, unlike the afternoon storms, is looking like a sure bet. Our computer simulations show a range of arrival times, with 7 pm on the early side and midnight on the late side.

The Severe Risk
The metro is under a Level 3/5 severe risk, with a 4/5 severe risk to the west and northwest of Kansas City. All severe threats are on the table — damaging winds will be the most likely severe threat to play out as the line moves toward the metro this evening. Large hail and tornadoes are less likely as well, with the most likely zone for those being west of Kansas City.
