A heat advisory was released by the NWS San Diego CA on Sunday at 12:32 p.m. valid for Tuesday between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. The advisory is for San Bernardino and Riverside County Valleys-The Inland Empire, San Diego County Inland Valleys and Orange County Inland.

The NWS describes, “Temperatures of 88 to 95 degrees and moderate HeatRisk expected.”

“Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses,” adds the NWS.

This advisory is in effect until Tuesday at 7 p.m.

During heat waves, consider the following tips from the NWS

  • Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids.
  • Seek cool shelter: Opt for an air-conditioned room to stay comfortable.
  • Look out for others: Stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
  • Child and pet safety: Do not leave young children and pets unattended in vehicles when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
  • Exercise caution outdoors: If you work or spend time outside, take additional safety measures.
  • Time your activities wisely: If possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening when the heat is less intense.
  • Recognize warning signs: Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
  • Dress for comfort: Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing to stay cool.

For a safer outdoor work environment, follow the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)’s guidance by scheduling regular rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned places. If anyone shows signs of heat illness, promptly move them to a cool, shaded area. In an emergency, call 911.
