Colts’ RB Jonathan Taylor chasing rare feat in 2025 season

Indianapolis Colts’ running back Jonathan Taylor is chasing a rare feat this season.

The running back Triple Crown is when a ball carrier leads the NFL in carries, rushing yards, and rushing touchdowns.

Entering Week 8, Taylor is second in carries with 131 — just one behind Christian McCaffrey — he’s first in yards with 697, and first in touchdowns with 10, per PFF.

As ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted, the running back Triple Crown is something that Taylor already accomplished during the 2021 season.

That year, Taylor rushed for 1,811 yards on 332 carries with 18 rushing touchdowns.

While there is still a long way to go in the 2025 season, if Taylor could again accomplish this feat of leading the NFL in all three of those categories, he would become the first running back to do so twice since Jim Brown did it during the 1958 and 1959 seasons.

Brown would put together a Hall of Fame career, which also included being named a nine-time Pro Bowler, an eight-time All-Pro, and a three-time MVP.

The Colts currently lead the NFL in scoring, and Taylor’s success has been a key part of that production.
