Fantasy football Week 8 recap and early waivers speed run: Christian Watson, Tyrone Tracy and more

Game on, you ducks! Hopefully, you survived Week 8. If not, I feel your pain. I tweeted about my dynasty team because I couldn’t even fill an entire lineup in dynasty due to all the injuries and byes, and now there are multiple new injuries. It’s the game we love; it’s the game we sometimes hate.

Bijan Robinson proved that even the best players in the best matchups can let us down. Week 8 of the fantasy football season had more frustrations and injuries, all at the worst time with Bye-mageddon. With impactful injuries come impactful replacements … or so we hope. These are the biggest takeaways and early waivers from Week 8, as we look to and hope for better days in Week 9.

Week 8 recap and waiver watch

  • Bijan Robinson, RB, ATL: Robinson was the biggest disappointment of Week 8. He’s the chosen one who let us down.
  • Darnell Mooney, WR, ATL: Mooney did nothing. It’s yet another example of fantasy football being a wild animal to predict.
  • Cam Skattebo, RB, NYG: Out for the season, making Tyrone Tracy an RB2 and must-add in all leagues. Blow your FAB.
  • Saquon Barkley, RB, PHI: Potential injury concern — even on a bye. Stash Tank Bigsby in case Barkley is out. Would be an RB2.
  • Quinshon Judkins, RB, CLE: Like Barkley, Judkins is injured and has the bye, but Dylan Sampson is worth stashing in case Judkins is out — higher ceiling than Jerome Ford.
  • Isaiah Davis, RB, NYJ: At this point in the season, you don’t need two QBs or two TEs on the roster. I’d rather have talented handcuffs.
  • TreVeyon Henderson, RB, NE: Good game, but less than a third of the snaps of Rhamondre Stevenson and just three routes (24 for Stevenson). Hopefully, this will force the Patriots to use Henderson more, but this could be a sell-high opportunity if you need help elsewhere. Essentially a high-end handcuff.
  • RJ Harvey, RB, DEN: Usage didn’t increase, similar to Henderson’s situation. Essentially, the Nick Westbrook-Ikhine of RBs. Similar to Henderson again — can hope this pushes Sean Payton to use Harvey more, but J.K. Dobbins had a big yardage day, making Harvey a potential sell-high too.
  • Chuba Hubbard, Rico Dowdle, RBs, CAR:  Another split with alternating series, but again, Dowdle performed better, making him a potential buy-low.
  • Jalen Coker, WR, CAR: Could move up the ladder, but right now, still the third wide receiver.
  • Samaje Perine, RB, CIN: Similar to Tank Bigsby, Perine is clearly the next man up. Has RB2 appeal if something happens to Chase Brown.
  • Jayden Higgins, WR, HOU: Scored, but Xavier Hutchinson looks to still be the No. 2 when Nico Collins is back, with Jaylin Noel as the clear Christian Kirk fill-in.
  • Woody Marks, RB, HOU: Volatile RB3, as he lost a few opportunities with Dare Ogunbowale back.
  • Elic Ayomanor, Chimere Dike, WRs, TEN: Ayomanor is the clear No. 2, and the No. 1 if Calvin Ridley is out or traded. Dike has more volume-reliant potential as a WR4 if Ridley isn’t in the lineup.
  • Christian Watson, WR, GB: Returned from injury and ran 24 of 37 routes. Will be a WR4 boom/bust going forward, in the Kayshon Boutte and Troy Franklin realm.
