Browns’ Kevin Stefanski turns playcalling over to OC Tommy Rees

BEREA, Ohio — For the second straight season, Kevin Stefanski has turned playcalling over to his offensive coordinator.
Last year, it was Ken Dorsey. This year, it’s Tommy Rees, his first-year coordinator.
Rees takes over the 31st offense in the NFL, and one that’s 30th in the NFL in points per game.
Stefanski said it was entirely his decision to turn it over to Rees, with whom he’ll continue to work closely on the gameplan. He said he trusts Rees and believes he’ll have the confidence to put his own stamp on the offense.
Rees called plays at Notre Dame and Alabama, but never in the NFL.
His first assignment will be Sunday in New York against the 1-7 Jets. Dillon Gabriel will remain the starting quarterback coming out of the bye, Stefanski said.
