Russell Westbrook has found his footing as a Sacramento King.
Making his fourth start in five games, Westbrook posted his all-time best 204th triple-double, and first with Sacramento, as the Kings beat the Golden State Warriors 121-116. With Kings guard Zach LaVine out with back stiffness and center Domantas Sabonis out with a rib cage contusion, Westbrook put up 23 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists Wednesday. At 36 years and 359 days of age, he is the oldest player in franchise history to record a triple-double, surpassing Hall of Famer Vlade Divac (36 years, 14 days) for the team’s previous such mark.
Westbrook knocked the ball off Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski late in the game to help secure the win. He then signaled for more noise from the crowd at the Golden 1 Center.

The Warriors were playing without Stephen Curry (cold), Draymond Green (rib contusion) and Jimmy Butler (back soreness).
The Kings signed Westbrook in the middle of October, a surprising move given they were already short on perimeter shooting, although guard play was a need. After a slow start to the season, Westbrook has now scored in double digits in six consecutive games. He is averaging 15 points, 7.1 rebounds and 5.6 assists.
Westbrook’s career was in doubt after he declined his player option with the Denver Nuggets heading into the offseason. Recently, Westbrook said the Nuggets asked him not to exercise his option despite having a decent year, largely as a reserve. In Sacramento, he is providing a spark — for now, as a starter.
