Cal State Fullerton soccer player Lauren Turner dies weeks after e-scooter crash

FULLERTON, Calif. (KABC) — A soccer player at California State University, Fullerton has died following an off-campus e-scooter crash.
Lauren Turner, who was a sophomore and member of the Titans women’s soccer team, died last Friday after spending weeks in the ICU.
Turner was riding an e-scooter with a teammate in late September when they were both hit by a box truck.
“Lauren was the funniest, most charismatic, and loving teammate you could ever ask for,” read an Instagram post shared by the soccer team. “She was the first to celebrate other people’s wins. She is the true definition of an amazing person. She always carried herself with compassion, kindness, and happiness. The impact she made on the Titans women’s soccer program is immeasurable. She will be dearly missed by everyone but forever remembered by her Titan family. We love you Lauren, our No. 5 Forever.”
The Titans women’s soccer team and the Titans Athletics department will host a candlelight vigil for Turner on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. on the field at Titan Stadium. Fans can enter Titan Stadium via the South Entrance ramp.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Meantime, Turner’s teammate is still recovering.
