What they’re saying nationally as Patriots win again in ‘positively painful’ game for Jets fans

There was no trap game in Foxborough on Thursday night.
Double-digit home favorites at Gillette Stadium, the Patriots dispatched the Jets, 27-14, in blue-collar fashion to increase their winning streak to eight games.
At 9-2, Mike Vrabel’s team now owns the NFL’s best record.
So what was the national reaction to another New England victory? Here’s what they’re saying after Thursday Night Football:
ESPN
“Patriots rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson has made the most of his opportunity, filling in for injured starter Rhamondre Stevenson, who has missed the past three games because of a toe injury. Henderson’s two touchdown runs and one receiving touchdown helped the Patriots to a 27-14 victory over the New York Jets on Thursday night, sparking a question on whether he might assume a larger role when Stevenson returns… Henderson became the second rookie in Patriots history to have multiple rushing touchdowns in consecutive games, joining Curtis Martin, who had a three-game streak and two-game streak in 1995.”
New York Post
“The contrast is positively painful if you’re a Jets fan. Same as it was for the 19 years the Jets were tormented by the Patriots as Tom Brady toyed with their defense while their offense searched in vain for a quarterback.
“Six years after Brady left New England, the Patriots have another bona fide star franchise quarterback, and the Jets still do not. If you’re looking for the difference in the Jets’ 27-14 loss to the Patriots on Thursday night at Gillette Stadium, there it was slapping them in the face.”
The Athletic
“A year ago, the New England Patriots and New York Jets sat in the cellar of the AFC East standings at 4-13 and 5-12. What a difference a year — and an MVP-caliber quarterback — can make. Drake Maye and the Patriots coasted to their AFC-leading ninth win of the season on ‘Thursday Night Football,’ defeating the Jets 27-14 at Gillette Stadium. New England (9-2) won its NFL-leading eighth game in a row, while the Jets (2-8) continue to slide.”

“It wasn’t his finest game of the season, but Drake Maye kept the Patriots rolling with a solid showing in Thursday night’s win over the Jets. Maye hit on his first 11 throws of the night, which was his longest career streak to start a game, but he cooled off a bit, throwing a few passes that could have been picked and missing a few open targets. Still, Maye rebounded with downfield shots to Stefon Diggs and Mack Hollins , earning some “MVP” chants from the Foxborough crowd after one ad-libbed conversion to Diggs. Maye didn’t turn it over, which was his best stat.
“The Patriots had more empty possessions than you’d like to see against a depleted defense, but Maye didn’t do anything to hurt his MVP chances, and the Patriots have won eight straight games in a season for the first time since Tom Brady was QB. That also reflects well on Mike Vrabel, who might be one of the Coach of the Year favorites now.”
USA TODAY
“Perhaps it wasn’t the walkover some had envisioned, but the New England Patriots had a fairly stress-free Thursday evening while dispatching the AFC East-rival New York Jets 27-14. Uneventful as the night mostly was on the field, it could have ramifications that extend well into the season − and beyond − for both teams, several clubs beyond the bounds of Foxborough and maybe even some players … including, perhaps, some beyond the bounds of Foxborough.”
