Jason Statham’s highest-grossing movie is having an unexpected moment on VOD 10 years after its theatrical release. In 2015, Statham suited up as Deckard Shaw for the first time in Furious 7, the massive action movie that also stars Kurt Russell, Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, and more. The hit blockbuster follows Shaw as he fights to get revenge for the death of his brother. Furious 7 is currently streaming only on Peacock in America, but globally, the film has emerged in the VOD top 10 in several countries around the world, including Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Furious 7 may not have been in line for any Oscars, but that didn’t stop it from becoming one of the most successful movies of all time. It cost $190 million to make the movie, which turned out to be nothing more than a drop in the bucket compared to what it grossed. The film grossed a whopping $1.5 billion at the global box office, making it the biggest financial hit of Statham’s career. It also earned strong scores of 81% from critics and 82% from audiences on the aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes. It’s widely viewed as one of the most profitable blockbusters of all time, and it’s helped the Fast & Furious franchise blossom into what it’s known as today.

James Wan directed Furious 7 with a script from Chris Morgan. Morgan also returned to write the script for the F&F spin-off, Hobbs & Shaw, starring Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson. James Wan recently worked with a new Fast & Furious star, Jason Momoa, on both Aquaman movies in the old DCEU.

What Do We Know About the Next Fast & Furious Movie?

The next Fast & Furious movie has tentatively been titled Fast X: Part 2, and it will be a direct sequel to 2023’s Fast X. It was rumored that Universal was considering canceling the movie if the budget was not brought down by over $100 million, but leading star Vin Diesel put these rumors to bed not long ago. He took to his personal Instagram account to share photos of himself with Universal executives, confirming that the details for the film have been ironed out. It’s allegedly in pre-production right now and due to begin filming soon.

Be sure to watch Furious 7 on Peacock in America and stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates and coverage of Fast X: Part 2.
