“I’m very fond” – Manager refuses to fuel Crystal Palace rumour, despite fondness for player

Getafe manager Jose Bordalás has refused to comment on Christantus Uche potentially returning from Crystal Palace in January.

Estadio Deportivo cover comments from him today. He was asked about the midfielder during a press conference today.

Uche joined Crystal Palace on loan from Getafe in the summer. The deal was done at the last minute and includes a clause for it to become mandatory after he makes a certain amount of appearances for the Eagles.

That’s looking unlikely to happen at this moment in time. He’s barely featured for Crystal Palace since his arrival. That’s led to some reports he could head back to Getafe in January.

Indeed, reports from Spain today have indicated that both Uche and Crystal Palace have agreed to terminate his loan deal if they can reach an agreement. That’s been seen as good and bad news for Getafe.

They would welcome Uche back, having been reluctant to sell in the summer anyway. Indeed, Bordalás was openly against the idea at the time.

He’s refusing to add to speculation for now, despite that. But he is willing to admit that he remains a big fan of the Crystal Palace loanee.

“No, I’m not going to comment on a player who isn’t with us, who isn’t wearing the Getafe shirt, and even less so on Uche, whom I’m very fond of,” he said.

“Right now, we’re focused on the squad we have, on the match we have the day after tomorrow against Atlético, and we’ll see what the future holds.”
