Two UAB football players injured, one arrested after stabbing at operations center

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — A UAB football player is in custody after two other players were injured in a stabbing at the UAB Football Operations Center Saturday morning, according to the university.
A spokesperson with the UAB Athletics Department said campus police responded to an assault with injuries which are believed to be non-life-threatening.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue said the injured players were taken to UAB Hospital for treatment.
No additional details were immediately provided, but officials said there is no threat to the campus.

Our thoughts are with them and their families as they recover. The suspect – another player – remains in custody, and an investigation is taking place. The team elected to play today’s game.
