21-year-old did not see or hear train in fatal accident

WILSON COUNTY —A Kansas woman died in an accident just after 3p.m. Saturday in Wilson County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a pedestrian identified as 21-year-old Angel M. Stephens of Altoona, was walking westbound on 7th Street in Altoona.  She accidentally walked in front of and was struck by a northbound train. 

Stephens was pronounced dead at the scene. It is believed that she did not see or hear the train, according to the KHP.

She was transported to Countryside Funeral Home in Fredonia.
