Popular Latin musician, 22, killed in ambush-style shooting

Police are investigating after a popular singer was killed in an “ambush-style shooting” in California.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department 22-year-old Maria de la Rosa died after multiple rounds were shot into a vehicle as it was parked on Bryant Street east of Tampa Avenue in Northridge at 1:25 a.m. on Nov. 22.

Witnesses described seeing two male suspects approach a vehicle, but a motive for the shooting is unclear and no arrests have been made.

According to the Los Angeles Times, De la Rosa released her first song, “No me llames” (“Don’t Call Me”) under the name DELAROSA in August.

She appears to have significant regional influence on her Instagram account, which has more than 40,000 followers.

The most recent post shows her with an electric guitar in a recording studio. Numerous fans and members of the music community were leaving messages of support for the young Latin singer.
