Report: Longtime NFL Head Coach Wants ‘Change Of Scenery’

There’s still over a month left in the NFL regular season, and yet, there’s speculation that a longtime head coach wants a change of scenery in 2026.
The Tennessee Titans got the coaching carousel started by firing Brian Callahan after a 1-5 start to the season. His offense was a disaster under his command, scoring just 83 points combined in six games. We’d have to imagine ownership will try to find another offensive-minded coach to pair with rookie quarterback Cam Ward in the offseason.

In November, the New York Giants fired head coach Brian Daboll. The 2022 Coach of the Year finished his tenure with a 20-40-1 record.
While there are only two head coaching vacancies in the NFL right now, Josina Anderson expects to see a few more jobs open up. She also claims a longtime head coach might be eyeing a new home next season.
“Keeping tabs as we approach Carousel season: League sources are eyeing five more NFL teams with projected openings at head coach, as of where things stand today, while waiting to collect more data on a 6th team too,” Anderson wrote on X. “Meanwhile, there’s is a longtime NFL head coach out there who is considering wanting a change of scenery & has told others of these thoughts. If he acts on those lingering feelings, his departure would clearly add to the list of vacancies.”

Anderson didn’t say who the longtime NFL head coach is.

Who could it be?
Most NFL fans are convinced Anderson is talking about Mike Tomlin. He’s been coaching the Pittsburgh Steelers since 2007.
“Please tell me Mike Tomlin is leaving. I would literally throw a party and invite all of Pittsburgh. We would all be insanely happy and party all night. Wake up in the morning and go to church praising God we don’t have to deal with Tomlin anymore,” a Steelers fan said.

“I hope it’s Tomlin,” another fan commented. “Three playoff wins in like 13 years. But hey. They finish .500 every year.”
Another coach that fans may want to monitor is John Harbaugh. The Baltimore Ravens have been under his command since 2008. Maybe the two sides will consider parting ways if this season doesn’t end on great terms.
