‘Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Fruity Pebbles drama revealed

The “Mormon Wives” don’t need a camera crew to let it all hang out.
Jessi Ngatikaura and Demi Engemann, cast members on the Hulu reality show “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” are duking it out on social media after Engemann implied the series is scripted, which prompted Ngatikaura to spill the beans on “Fruity Pebbles,” a NSFW controversy from the show involving her costar.
Engemann seemingly poked fun at the authenticity of “Mormon Wives” in an Instagram post published Sunday, Nov. 23. The post starred Engemann in a comedic skit, in which the TV personality is having her lighting set up by a hostile production crew that forces her to read a statement saying how much she loves working with lighting company Ruby Home Lighting.
“A little too close to home…😅,” Engemann wrote in the post’s caption.
Engemann’s joke didn’t sit well with Ngatikaura, who took to her Instagram stories on Tuesday, Nov. 25, to react to her castmate’s reality-TV spoof.
“Honey, just because you script YOURSELF doesn’t mean our show is scripted,” Ngatikaura wrote. “This behavior, level of delusion and downward spiral should be studied.”
But the drama doesn’t end there, folks.
What is ‘Fruity Pebbles’ drama on ‘Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’?
The “Fruity Pebbles” controversy on “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” stems from a Season 1 scene, in which a group of castmates rehash a “crazy sex story” Engemann reportedly told them about her and her husband, Bret Engemann, during a girls’ trip to California.
After Mikayla Matthews asks her costars Whitney Leavitt and Mayci Neeley to explain the raunchy anecdote, Leavitt and Neeley proceed to dramatize the sexual act, with Neeley lying on the ground while Leavitt stands over her and briefly squats over her face.
During a show confessional interview, Leavitt is asked about the meaning of the term “Fruity Pebbles,” and Leavitt said the “fruity cereal has to do with [the] taste” associated with the Engemanns’ sexual act.
Jessi Ngatikaura reveals true meaning of ‘Fruity Pebbles’
Following her initial reaction post, Ngatikaura opened the can of worms on her contentious relationship with Engemann on her Instagram stories.
Responding to a taunting social media comment purportedly written by Engemann that read, “Jessi’s somewhere punching air right now that Lisa is talking about me and not her,” Ngatikaura opted to reveal the true meaning of “Fruity Pebbles” in a scathing video.
“Since she wants to be petty and be an a——, I think I’m just going to go ahead and say that Grandpa Bret likes to drink her [urine] like it’s dirty soda, and he gulps it down like water,” Ngatikaura said. “And that’s what ‘Fruity Pebbles’ is.”
Demi Engemann addresses ‘Fruity Pebbles’ reveal, slams Jessi Ngatikaura
Engemann responded to Ngatikaura’s claims in a lengthy post on her Instagram stories Tuesday. Aside from the “Fruity Pebbles” controversy, Engemann also criticized her “Mormon Wives” costar for dismissing her previous claim of sexual assault in a separate video.
“What my husband and I did one time behind closed doors was a consensual and private experience in our marriage,” Engemann wrote. “I won’t let a private act between my husband and I be a distraction from a serious act that I did not consent to.”
She added: “I shared this information with Jessi in confidence nearly two years ago. It’s very telling that she’s choosing to break storyline and bring it up now, only after her own affair has come to light. This is nothing more than a desperate attempt to shift attention away from her own behavior.”
Despite the controversy, Engemann and her husband Bret embraced the pop cultural infamy of “Fruity Pebbles” shortly after the Season 1 release of “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.”
In an October 2024 TikTok video, Engemann is seen eating a bowl of the multicolored, Flintstones-themed cereal and asks Bret if he wants a bite, which he declines. However, just moments later, Bret is seen eagerly pouring the cereal in his mouth while sitting in a bath of Fruity Pebbles.
“Yabba dabba doo!!! 😂🥣,” Engemann wrote.
