Charlie Puth Responds To Criticism Of Super Bowl LX Gig

As Charlie Puth plans to make his Super Bowl debut in February, the artist is brushing off criticism and comparisons to previous performers.

Following the announcement that he will perform the national anthem during Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8, 2026 in Santa Clara, California, the 4x Grammy nominee responded to someone who said the lineup has “fallen from when Whitney Houston sang” ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ at the ’91 NFL championship.

“Charlie Puth? He’s not gonna give us vocals I’m afraid,” they added on X.

Their additions to the 2026 Super Bowl lineup comes after Bad Bunny was tapped to headline the halftime show in September, sparking threats from Trump’s Department of Homeland Security, despite the 3x Grammy winner being a U.S. citizen from Puerto Rico.

Trump loyalists have voiced their opinion against Bad Bunny performing at the Super Bowl, and Turning Point USA took the opportunity to present an alternative Halftime show on the same day.
