Dukes Return Home to Host VCU

HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison women’s basketball is back in Harrisonburg to host VCU on Sunday, Dec. 7. Action inside the Atlantic Union Bank Center is slated for 2 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+.

LAST TIME VS. THE RAMS

  • JMU held VCU to 24.6 percent (15-of-61) from the field in a 55-42 victory inside the Siegel Center on Dec. 5, 2024.
  • Ro Scott paced the Dukes with 16 points off the bench to go along with four rebounds and two assists. Peyton McDaniel registered 12 points and 10 boards for her fourth double-double of the season, while Kseniia Kozlova added 10 points and seven rebounds. Bree Robinson led all players with five steals, her second game in a row with five takeaways.

COACH O VS. THE COMMONWEALTH

  • Since Sean O’Regan took over the program in 2016-17, JMU is 42-6 (.875) against Division I teams from Virginia.
  • The Dukes are 2-1 this year versus Commonwealth opponents, with wins over Liberty (74-61 – Nov. 12) and Virginia Tech (65-56 – Nov. 23), and a loss to George Mason (72-57 – Nov. 6).

NCAA RANKING SUMMARY

  • Through Dec. 4 games, JMU owns three top-75 marks nationally: rebounds per game (31st – 43.30), defensive rebounds per game (36th – 29.6) and blocks per game (47th – 4.7).
  • Individually, Peyton McDaniel is tied for fourth in field goal attempts (161), ninth in points (206), 11th in field goals (72), 21st in points per game (20.6), tied for 20th in three-pointers (26) and tied for 22nd in three-point attempts (68).
  • Additionally, Brianna McLeod is tied for 12th in blocks (21), Ashanti Barnes is tied for 15th in rebounds (92), Zakiya Stephenson is tied for 35th in assists (47) and Bree Robinson is tied for 35th in steals (25).

  
HOME SWEET HOME

  • The Dukes went 16-2 inside the Atlantic Union Bank Center in 2024-25, marking consecutive seasons with at least a dozen home victories. Additionally, the 16 home wins were the most by the program since the 2018-19 season when James Madison produced an 18-1 record at the Convocation Center.
  • JMU is 59-22 (.728) since the Atlantic Union Bank Center opened at the start of the 2020-21 season.
  • Moreover, Head Coach Sean O’Regan is 119-32 (.788) when playing in Harrisonburg.

NON-CONFERENCE

  • James Madison’s non-conference slate features four teams that competed in the 2025 NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship: George Mason, Liberty, Texas and Notre Dame.
  • Meanwhile, four foes finished in the top 50 from the final NET rankings of the 2024-25 season: Texas (3), Notre Dame (4), George Mason (45) and Virginia Tech (47).
  • Four opponents were voted a top-two team in their respective preseason polls: Kent State (1st – Mid-American Conference), George Mason (2nd – A10), Liberty (2nd – CUSA) and Texas (2nd – SEC).
  • Lastly, Texas (#4) and Notre Dame (#15) were ranked in the AP Top 25 Preseason Poll  on Oct. 14.

PARKING
Reserved Parking

  • All parking pass holders — both Spot-Specific and Reserved — will enter through the North Entrance of the Ballard Parking Deck. All reserved parking opens two (2) hours before tip-off.

General Parking

  • General Parking is located in the adjacent surface lots (C12D3, and R4) as well as the South Entrance of the Ballard Parking Deck. General parking is available beginning two (2) hours before game time. General parking is free of charge, available on a first-come, first-served basis.
