BALTIMORE — Following a 12-yard reception from Aaron Rodgers, Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Darnell Washington had his legs cut out from underneath him by a Baltimore Ravens defender and thudded to the ground hard.

Washington got up slowly and awkwardly before walking to the sideline. He entered the blue medical tent to be checked for a concussion. He spent an extended period of time in there before emerging without a helmet and walking to the locker room.

Washington is questionable to return to the game.

DK Metcalf caught a 28-yard pass on the following play, pushing the Steelers further into enemy territory. Rodgers and the attack wound up settling for a Chris Boswell field goal, making it a 10-3 score with 10:39 to go in the second quarter.

Washington, who stands 6-foot-7 and weighs well over 300 pounds, has had a breakout season in a tight ends room that also includes Pat Freiermuth, Jonnu Smith and Connor Heyward. Washington entered the matchup with the Ravens with 22 grabs for 276 yards and a touchdown, all of which at least tied career-highs.

The Steelers drafted Washington, who’s also an adept blocker, in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He starred collegiately at Georgia, where he had 45 receptions for 774 yards and three touchdowns.
