Chiefs HC Andy Reid addresses failed fourth down decisions vs. Texans

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke with reporters during his postgame press conference, addressing the failed fourth-down decisions in the Week 14 loss to the Houston Texans.
“I thought we could get it. That was the decision. I was confident we could do that. ” It’s important that you take advantage of opportunities,” said Reid. “I thought it was an opportunity.” I was wrong. In hindsight, it was wrong. We’ve been pretty good on fourth downs, so I messed that one up.”

Reid took full accountability for the late-game fourth-down failures, hoping for similar success to a play he ran last week involving tight end Jared Wiley. The plays ended in turnovers on downs in Chiefs territory, leading to Texans scores.
“Didn’t work out the way we planned,” said Reid, “Really, all three of the fourth downs that we missed.”
The Chiefs’ offense struggled to gain traction in the fourth quarter against one of the league’s top defensive units. Kansas City was held scoreless after the third quarter with multiple dropped passes and turnovers.
